as a classically trained goldsmith from germany, jane frank moved to burlington, vermont in spring 2007 and works from her home based studio“WERKSTATT” in the old north end, where she lives, creates and teaches.

inspired by classic form from architecture, arts and ancient crafts, she likes to collect antique items from fleamarkets and yard sales, everything from buttons, toys, inlays and carved stones. she gathers pieces and motifs that are no longer appreciated and simply lost their meaning in the present world and recontextualize them in her work, using traditional german craftsmanship as well as modern techniques like precious metal clay, dental composite and casting in order to give them new life.

recently jane discovered the history and charm of chandeliers, fascinated by their sensuality, fluidity and timeless symbol of elegance, she started to recreate classic forms of varies centuries into miniature, wearable pieces of jewelery.
